I was in London during the Easter season last year, and had the great delight of attending a lenten service with the Westminster mens and boy’s choir. Afterwards, I had a bit of a fascination with the Westminster Abbey Choir School, whose sole purpose is to educate and care for the boys in the choir. How often do we have a project, an institution solely dedicated to creating something beautiful for worship? At least, in an institutionalized way? The Church of England and all other churches have their ups and downs and brokennesses, but I love this.
It occurred to me on Easter that I could create an entire channel of boys choir on Pandora. I pull it up on days like today where I could use something beautiful over the craziness and tiredness in my head.
This video is of the choir singing at the evensong service, as they do daily. Something beautiful and “other” in the middle of your day. I recommend the Pandora Choir of Westminster Abbey channel. Sometimes listening to beautiful music that’s different than my norm clears my head and heart some, makes some special space in there.
