First off, I did finish my writing project.  I don’t give myself a sugar high every time I finish a writing assignment.  They say white (you know, “they”) sugar reacts in your brain in the same fashion as cocaine, and “they” say intermittent reinforcement is the most effective.  In rats.

While I was trying to write at Ugly Mugs, all of this life started happening around me.  Cute little kids, everywhere.  This was worth stopping the presses for- when I walked over to see what Sera Oakes was up to, she had TEN caterpillars in her hand.  Like a Little Miss Saint Francis.

Anne Lamott tells writers in Bird by Bird to make sure they aren’t ALONE all the time.  You could miss a kid with a handful of caterpillars. You know?

I’m commenting while I’m thinking about it before I forget!
I love that my girlies get a thrill when they see Miss Katy at Ugly Mugs. It’s the best. For the record, I get a thrill too.
I wonder if the live caterpillars felt like the dead ones were bumming on their vibe. I can just picture them exchanging awkward glances and trying to inch away with caterpillar grace. ;)

I love when I get to see you and your girls- thanks for the sweet thought! As for the caterpillars- didn’t realize some were dead… that is a bit bumming, as I put myself in the caterpillar’s (many, many) shoes… I’m suddenly scripting a Roald Dahl-flavored, James and the Giant Peach kind of conversation, here.
