My old buddy John Pelphrey, the first guy who played guitar for me in Nashville. He and his wife Kelly are now the proprietors of the beautiful and brave LabourLove art gallery in East Durham. Hopefully we’ll get some pictures soon- you need to see Kenny and I playing in front of the graffiti art.

Sneaky Bruce & PJ! I ask them to take pics of the NC State show, they take kissing pictures! This is because I remarked that these lovebirds have lots of pictures of them snogging on their Facebook.

Kenny and his amazing burrito. We stayed with our buddy Thad Cockrell in Raleigh and he rode along with us to Nashville. (He has a show on Thursday, by the way- the Lightning 100 concert on the green shebang). Thad talked us into lunch in Asheville at the marvelous restaurant Chorizo.

Marvelous times all around. Kenny heads out with Matthew Smith tomorrow- catch him around Alabama all weekend. Seriously, all of the shows are in Alabama. It’s fun to call it the Alabama tour, and we keep riffing on our favorite Alabama tunes. Like Thistlehair the Christmas Bear.
Me? I’m staying home. Seeing dear old friends, ladies I love, making stuff.
John Pelphrey!!! Wow, it’s been a long time. One of my first pals I met at Towering Traditions, I presume! The art gallery looks amazing. That’s it, I’m moving to Durham, that city is way too cool.
Seeing these pictures makes me wish we were close enough that Margie and I could have come to one of our concerts, then stolen you away for a meal and long, slow leisurely conversation. Or maybe the stealing would have come before a concert. No matter, it’s the stealing that counts.
Still hope we get to see Kenny in Minneapolis, though word is that you won’t be along, Katie. No justice in this sad world, I’d say.
Right now we are in CT, just outside NY City staying with dear friends who inexplicably like us enough to have us vacation with them. Such grace is always a proof of God, I think. Anyway this is Day Two, so the let-down-and-stop-being-productive-for-a-while-mode has not fully kicked in yet, but should soon. Have taken a nap for two days straight simply because I could. Another proof of God.
So, beloved friends, make sweet music, love God, drink heavily, and say No to distractions that someone who doesn’t have your calling can do.
Margie sends her love, though mine is better. Tell Kenny I’m praying for his eye (rest of him too, actually, but you probably know what I mean).
