Here in Nashville, we’re having tornadoes. Well, at 1:03 pm, they’re close. They’ve hit Murfreesboro, apparently. When I saw that they were coming on the news, I told Kenny, who was working in the studio. Kenny immediately started packing up gear, hard drives and guitars and taking them to the basement. I took my computer and hard drive, too.
I’m sitting in the basement right now. The things that I thought to bring first were:
-A bottle of Rex Goliath shiraz
-A corkscrew
-Two mugs
-Two glasses of water
-Chocolate chip cookies
-The Message
-My keys
-The copy of Out of the Silent Planet that we’ve been reading out loud.
-Headlamp for reading.
We grabbed two bowls of chicken noodle soup that I’d just finished simmering and watched the storms come in on TV. When it looked a little too close, we headed to the basement. I can hear the tornado sirens.
Also grabbed, for the record:
-The handkerchiefs that Kenny’s sisters and mom weaved, tatted, edged and embroidered for our wedding day.
-The wedding pictures
-All of the old journals that were in the closet
There you have it. Hanging in the basement for now…
oh- 1:18- looks like tornadoes are past us for now. Something about all nature going crazy on Good Friday…
The handkerchief part made me teary-eyed.
There aren’t too many things I would grab. Laptop, guitar, pets, wife. Like your list, though.
Course, 4 of my 6 computers are already IN the basement! Oh, and my library is down there, too. I think I’d be SET!
